Meet the face behind the camera:
HEY! I’M JAMIE
I currently live in Connecticut with my husband, Sean, our 70-pound Bernedoodle, Lenny, and our sweet baby girls, Maeve and Faye. When I’m not busy capturing your special moments, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, enjoying the outdoors, or exploring a new museum or local coffee shop.
I have always loved photography
From a young age, I had a passion for capturing life’s moments with my point-and-shoot camera. This love for photography led me to earn a BFA in Fine Art Photography in college, where I fell in love with the art of the darkroom before transitioning to digital photography.
After college, I embarked on several years of travel, each experience shaping my perspective and deepening my love for storytelling through images. I taught English in Thailand to large classes of 50 students, many of whom spoke little English. I also completed a 10-day silent meditation retreat in Sri Lanka, spending ten hours in meditation each day. My travels took me through Vietnam, where I hiked rice paddies, stayed in a homestay in Sapa, and took a cooking class in Ho Chi Minh City. I spent a month in the Philippines and even completed a free diving course in Bali. I also lived in Melbourne, Australia, for a while.
Europe was full of adventures, too. I danced beneath the Eiffel Tower, ran through the streets of Florence at night, and took a cooking class in Barcelona. I experienced Oktoberfest in Munich, visited a Christmas market in Ireland, and had Indian food for Thanksgiving in Dublin. I went thrift shopping in London, explored Amsterdam on a bike, and enjoyed a Turkish bath in Turkey.
Eventually, I settled in London to earn my master's degree in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography. While documentary photography was my dream, I struggled to see how I could turn it into a stable career. After years of traveling, I craved stability, so I returned home, earned my art teacher certification, and began teaching high school photography. Along the way, I reconnected with my high school crush, married, and started a family.
After four years of teaching, I decided to pursue my true passion full-time. Jamie Leigh Photography has since grown in exciting ways, and I’m thrilled for the new adventures that lie ahead.
I draw on my background in documentary photography to capture authentic moments that you’ll treasure for years to come.
I have a gift for capturing the in-between moments that make your wedding day unforgettable—your dad holding your mother’s hand as you exchange vows, or the laughter of cousins reconnecting during cocktail hour after years apart. As your photographer, my goal is not just to capture what your wedding looked like, but how it felt.
Whether you’re planning an extravagant celebration at your dream venue or an intimate elopement in your favorite national park, I would be honored to be there to preserve those precious, fleeting moments.
A few things about me
01
I spent my childhood immersed in the woods, playing in the fallen leaves, splashing through streams, and returning home for dinner, exhausted, dirty, and full of joy.
02
I love traveling, meeting new people, exploring unfamiliar places, and trying unique foods. I’m not much of a planner; I prefer to let my travels unfold spontaneously, leading to unforgettable and unexpected experiences.
03
I always loved art class in school, but I wasn’t your typical art student. I also had a passion for math and played sports across three seasons! I’m a big fan of art history and truly believe that art has the power to change the world—past, present, and future.
